The ACR is committed to advocating for appropriate coverage and payment policies. The volunteer members of the Insurance Subcommittee and ACR staff lead this effort by representing the ACR and its membership to the insurance industry. This subcommittee's purpose is to coordinate and engage in all activities that improve the practice environment of rheumatology as it is affected by health insurers. These activities include: patient access to high quality care and treatment, reimbursement, regulation, and reviews of various drug and treatment policies.
Members: If you are experiencing a problem with a health plan, please do not hesitate to ask the ACR to help. The ACR cannot negotiate contracts for physicians, but is willing and able to investigate unfair practices from insurance companies and help you navigate insurance issues. Please fill out the Health Plan Complaint Form and the ACR will do its part to assist you.
