Larger Datasets for Rheumatology Research

Program Information

Association of Rheumatology Professionals (ARP) Research Subcommittee presents Larger Datasets for Rheumatology Research.

Examining large datasets for answering research questions is becoming more common. There are several opportunities as well as challenges to using these large datasets for rheumatologic research. Knowing the types of large datasets, advantages and disadvantages as well as opportunities for using these datasets for rheumatologic research can be overwhelming.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify available datasets used for answering rheumatologic research questions.
  2. Discuss the use of larger health care datasets and the tools needed to conduct rheumatologic research.
  3. Identify the pros and cons of using larger datasets in rheumatologic research.
  4. Describe the process of gaining access and resources needed to use larger datasets.
  5. Discuss analytical opportunities and challenges with larger data sets.
  6. Illustrate examples of how larger health care datasets have been utilized for rheumatologic research.
