This live onboarding webinar will highlight the roles of nurse practitioners (NP) and physician assistants (PA), address the increasing need for these advanced practice providers, and answers questions from practices that are considering hiring a qualified NP or PA. In a 30-minute interview style webinar Daphne Scaramangas-Plumley, MD and Bryant Uy, PA-C will discuss these topics from their rheumatology medical practice.

Target Audience
Rheumatologists, practice managers, office managers, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate how the utilization of NP/PAs in rheumatology can help address workforce challenges

Dr. Daphne Scaramangas-Plumley, MD is a board-certified rheumatologist at Attune Health in Beverly Hills, CA. She received her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine where she graduated with highest honors. She completed her internal medicine residency through Boston University at the Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, RI before moving to Los Angeles for a fellowship at Cedars-Sinai. While there she distinguished herself as a thoughtful and compassionate physician and graduated with the highest commendation of the program. Her previous research focused on the spondyloarthritides, which includes diseases such as ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, IBD-associated arthritis, and reactive arthritis. She has presented her research findings at the national level and hopes to continue her research interests in the field. She treats patients with all types of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions and evaluates complex cases that require tertiary-level input. She is also trained in performing joint ultrasound evaluations and procedures.

Dr. Bryant Uy, PA-C is a Physician Assistant at Attune Health in Beverly Hills, CA. Bryant earned his Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University. Prior to his career as a physician assistant, Bryant earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan and Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Occidental College. Bryant has a specific interest in treating gout, osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis. He is knowledgeable on the most up-to-date treatments for these conditions and leads the clinics as they help patients manage these conditions. He is especially adept at performing injections, including hyaluronic acid injections for osteoarthritis of the knees, and is frequently complimented by patients for his pain free techniques and compassionate care. Bryant was trained in administering hyaluronic acid and corticosteroids and has performed more than 1,000 injections over the past three years. In addition to his rigorous hands-on training, he has also taken multiple courses in utilizing ultrasound guidance to ensure that injections are administered properly and accurately.
