Program Information

The Division Directors’ Conference will expose attendees to key issues involved in running successful academic divisions of rheumatology. Attendees will hear from experts in the field and their peers on how to handle everyday challenges faced by academic institutions. There will be ample opportunities for networking and brainstorming for solutions to common problems faced by academic institutions.

Target Audience
This conference is designed for rheumatology division directors.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Analyze and describe the major changes in health care delivery and finance impacted by changes in the Affordable Care Act and how these changes will likely impact divisions of academic rheumatology
  • Better understand how the shift to quality-based care and the alternative payment models can be adapted to the care of patients in academic rheumatology clinics
  • Implement new and more effective recruitment strategies to address the anticipated shortage of rheumatologist based on a better understanding of the training pipeline and the needs and interests of medical students and internal medicine residents
  • Perform more effective faculty development, evaluation, and retention that address the increased ethnic and cultural diversity of the workforce
