CARMA – Creating Adult Rheumatology Mentorship in Academia

Creating Adult Rheumatology Mentorship in Academia (CARMA) is a mentoring program to support early career investigators. Through this program, early career investigators participate in a matching mentoring program with established rheumatologists to enhance decision-making and satisfaction for rheumatology research trainees and junior faculty as they transition to independence after fellowship.


Mentees: Adult rheumatology research-focused fellows and junior faculty. ACR membership is required.

Mentors: Adult rheumatologists. ACR membership is required.

Time Commitment

This is a one-year mentoring program. However, the ACR supports interested matched mentors and mentees continuing their relationship for as long as they find it useful. Each mentoring experience is unique so the time commitment may vary. We anticipate 5-10 hours of phone/video calls and/or face-to-face meetings.
