ACR Statement on Access to Reproductive Healthcare

The ACR’s statement on access to reproductive healthcare highlights negative impacts of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson ruling, as well as the ACR’s opposition to policies that limit access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare and interfere with shared decision making between patients and healthcare professionals.

ACR Issues Methotrexate Guidance for Policymakers

The ACR offers recommendations for the allocation of methotrexate, in particular for those states where abortion restrictions have created confusion and barriers to patient access. Methotrexate must remain accessible to people with rheumatic diseases, and safeguards must protect rheumatology professionals, pharmacists, and patients from potential legal penalties.

ACR Statement on JAK Inhibitor Boxed Warning

On September 1, the FDA placed a boxed warning on tofacitinib, baricitinib, and upadacitinib due to data demonstrating increased risk of MACE, malignancy, thrombotic events, and mortality when tofacitinib was compared to TNFi in long-term surveillance data. In addition, the FDA adjusted the indications for the use of these JAK inhibitors, making them approved for TNF inhibitor inadequate response or intolerance. On January 27, 2022, the ORAL surveillance study was published and the data behind the changes were released.

ACR Town Hall Recording: Provider Burnout
