Endowing Your Gift

The ACR Research and Education Foundation is fortunate to receive  gifts that are intended to provide a permanent source of support for a particular purpose important to the donor and to the REF. These endowed gift funds provide significant ongoing support to enable the Foundation to accomplish its objective to provide an underlying base of continued support of our mission.

The REF has established minimum gift requirements for each type of endowment fund so that the annual payout will satisfy the purpose which the fund is intended to support. The award category description and minimum gift levels required in accordance with REF gifting policies are as follows:

  • Disease-Targeted Research Grants
    Minimum Gift Requirement: $1,000,000
    Fund innovative scientific hypotheses, which may not have necessarily been tested and/or may not have a significant amount of preliminary data, specifically in rheumatoid arthritis and related conditions, including: psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
    Minimum Award Amount: $200,000
  • Research Awards
    Minimum Gift Requirement: $500,000
    Attract early- and mid-career investigators to continue research into cause, prevention and treatment of rheumatic diseases, and support clinical and basic science Investigators with mentored research training.
    Minimum Award Amount: $50,000
  • Education & Training Grants
    Minimum Gift Requirement: $500,000
    Designed to strengthen the academic training environment in rheumatology and to recruit and train quality rheumatologists, and supports educators dedicated to providing high quality clinical education and development of new teaching strategies; or fellows in clinical rheumatology training.
    Minimum Award Amount: $25,000
  • Preceptorship Awards
    Minimum Gift Requirement: $300,000
    Introduce medical students and residents to the specialty of rheumatology by supporting a full-time clinical or research experience. Each student is paired with an established researcher or clinician in the field who serves as their mentor during the experience, allowing them to gain valuable hands-on knowledge and skill sets.
    Minimum Award Amount: $15,000
