These awards help to cultivate future generations of rheumatologists and rheumatology health professionals.
The REF awards program continues to flourish. The REF has awarded over $8 million to support the salary stipends of more than 300 fellows in training programs across the country.

This award ensures that a highly trained workforce is available to provide clinical care to patients with rheumatic disease by providing funds to pay for one year of clinical rheumatology training for a fellow.

This award is to help ensure that a diverse and highly trained workforce is available to provide competent clinical care to those affected by rheumatic diseases.
ACR REF/Paula de Merieux Rheumatology Fellowship Training Award
This award ensures that a diverse and highly trained workforce is available to provide clinical care to patients with rheumatic disease by providing funds to help pay for one year of rheumatology training for a fellow who is an underrepresented minority or a woman.
ACR REF Clinician Scholar Educator Award
This award recognizes educators who are dedicated to providing high quality clinical education to future rheumatologists and rheumatology health professionals by supporting the development of new teaching strategies aimed at enhancing the overall rheumatology educational experience.
ACR REF/Lawren H. Daltroy Fellowship in Patient-Clinician Communication
The aim of this fellowship is to improve patient-clinician interaction through support of research that explores various aspects of patient-clinician communication.

This program provides valuable exposure to pediatric rheumatology for medical students and residents by connecting a board-certified professor of pediatric rheumatology with an academic institution where no established pediatric rheumatology expertise exists.
