The mission of the ACR Research and Education Foundation is to improve patients' lives through support of research and training that advances the prevention, treatment and cure of rheumatic diseases.

>> On July 1, 2008, the REF awarded $11 million in awards and grants to almost 200 individuals and institutional grant recipients, making us the second largest funder of rheumatology research and training programs in the U.S.

>> Today, due in large part to the REF's efforts, including an extensive awards and grants program, the number of fellows completing rheumatology training programs has increased by more than 50 percent.

- Funding Opportunities for RA Researchers
We are now accepting applications for the Within Our Reach: Finding a Cure for Rheumatoid Arthritis RA grants. The deadline for submission is December 1, 2008.

- Request for Applications for the ACR REF/AF Career Development Bridge Funding Award
We are now accepting applications for the second-round of Bridge Funding Awards. Outstanding applicants of NIH K08 or K23 grants who will not be funded this cycle may be eligible to apply for the bridge funding award.
