The Rheumatology Clinical Registry is a point-of-care clinical data management tool based on evidence-based quality measures aimed at improving care and drug safety for patients with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and gout.
Clinicians will appreciate the clinical decision support, population management and benchmarking capabilities of the RCR. In addition, the RCR can be used to satisfy Medicare's Physician Quality Reporting Initiative requirements to receive bonus incentive payments for 2009 registry reporting – rather than the claims-based reporting users found so onerous in 2007 and 2008. The RCR is also interoperable with the ACR's AIM practice improvement modules, so RCR data can pre-populate relevant fields for those who are undergoing recertification.
RCR users will only have to enter patient data once to benefit from all of these functions. Optional patient history forms are also available within the RCR to facilitate data collection, and some information can even be pulled from a user’s billing system to further minimize data entry. Finally, the RCR is taking advantage of data interoperability standards to ensure that EMR users whose EMR companies will allow it can benefit by the movement of information from the EMR to the RCR data system. These advantages will continue to grow over time.
