Cover image: The figure on the cover (from Wassenberg and Rau, page 2805) shows sequential radiographs of a metatarsophalangeal joint of a patient with rheumatoid arthritis treated with methotrexate. The first radiograph was obtained in 1997, and the second in 2000. As these radiographs indicate, effective disease-modifying antirheumatic drug therapy can have a significant impact on the erosive process, leading not only to cessation, but to repair. These findings are important with regard to the discussion of the effect of various disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs on tissue destruction and suggest that healing and remodeling may also occur with these agents.
