Cover image: The figure on the cover (from Fonseca et al, page 1215) depicts immunofluorescence staining to define the relationship between macrophages and T cells in the synovium of a patient with rheumatoid arthritis. Red indicates CD8+ cells, while green indicates CD163+ cells. CD163 is a member of the scavenger receptor family that is expressed by cells of the mononuclear phagocyte lineage. As this study indicates, the cellular distribution of CD163 may make it a particularly useful marker to elucidate the synovial microenvironment.
