NB:

  1. Above battery is composed of tests that have individually been part of batteries and overlap to a large degree with brief batteries used in SLE patients and other medical populations.
  2. Identification of impairments on individual tests is based on existing normative data appropriate for age, education, sex, and ethnic group (wherever possible). The designation of impairment on the overall battery cannot be made without reference to an appropriate control group (not yet available).
  3. Clinical significance of changes in test scores over time must be defined in reference to normative data.
  4. The brief battery for SLE should be validated against a comprehensive battery that reliably identifies deficits in SLE patients compared with normal controls and, where appropriate for particular questions, other medical control groups.
