HHS Announces One Year Delay for ICD-10!

The Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced a one year delay in the compliance date for implementation of the International Classification of Diseases 10th Edition (ICD-10) from October 1, 2013 to October 1, 2014.

The ICD-10 compliance date change is part of a proposed rule to adopt a standard for a unique health plan identifier and establish new requirements to improve electronic health care transactions under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
