Medicare Revalidation process DOES NOT affect routine enrollment process
September 20, 2011
Medicare provider revalidation efforts do not change other aspects of the Medicare enrollment process. Physicians must continue to submit routine changes (e.g. address update, reassignments)as current protocol dictates. The Affordable Care Act (section 6401a) new risk criteria mandates all providers and suppliers enrolled in Medicare program prior to March 25, 2011 will need to revalidate enrollment. Medicare Administrative Contractors (MAC) is handling the process and will mail notices to physicians between now and March 2013. MAC recommends revalidating only when the office is notified via correspondence.
