To qualify as an International Member, an applicant must:
- Be a physician or scientist residing outside the United States, Canada, and Mexico who is not eligible for Fellowship, but is recognized by the Committee on Nominations and Appointments to be eligible for membership by requirements appropriate for his or her background and discipline
- Be nominated by two members, one of whom should reside in the same country as the candidate, or by the Committee on Nominations and Appointments
