To qualify as an International Fellow-in-Training, an applicant must:
- Be a physician of high moral, ethical and professional standing who is either currently enrolled or has completed a qualified training program, according to the regulations of his or her country, in rheumatology or a related field within the past year
- Be sponsored by two voting members of the ACR (at least one of whom should reside in the same country as the applicant) familiar with the applicant's credentials and recommend or not recommend the applicant to the board of directors
