The CARE Progam

The Continuing Assessment, Review and Evaluation, or CARE Program, is the ACR's Web-based self-assessment program, primarily designed as a tool to assess the rheumatology knowledge base of physicians. CARE covers 13 main content areas of the rheumatic diseases including basic science, connective tissue disorders, crystal-associated arthropathies, and rheumatoid arthritis. All questions in the CARE Program have been placed through an exhaustive editorial, peer review, revision and validation process.

When you register for CARE you will receive:

  • A user friendly online self-assessment tool
  • 60 clinically relevant case-based questions with answer rationales and educational objectives
  • Images and over 100 educational links to upToDate® topic reviews, scientific articles from such journals as the New England Journal of Medicine and Arthritis & Rheumatism articles, and ACR Guidelines
  • Six-month subscription access to the site
  • Instant feedback upon program completion
  • Up to 18 AMA PRA Category 1 CME credits™ and/or 20 points in the self-evaluation of medical knowledge category of the Maintenance of Certification program for physicians enrolled with the ABIM*

Currently, the ACR offers both a 2006 and 2007 CARE Program. While each program contains different questions, the
2007 program offers a large variety of educational links and if a passing score is not achieved the first attempt, the cor-
rect answers display to enable a greater focus on the self-assessment component.

To register for the 2006 and/or 2007 program, please visit www.rheumatology.org/CARE where member registration fees start at $120.

* Participants are offered three attempts to pass the program and must answer 70% of the questions correctly to receive CME credits and ABIM points towards Maintenance of Certification. To receive MOC points, participants must be enrolled with the ABIM. Contact the ABIM at www.abim.org to check eligibility.
