The Rheumatology Research Foundation's awards and grants program exists to train and develop rheumatologists and rheumatology health professionals, as well as nurture novel research ideas for the future. The awards are designed to introduce the best and brightest to rheumatology, further their education and training in the field, and prepare them for larger awards and grants from other institutions to sustain their long-term careers. Through its awards and grants, the Foundation also fosters innovative research ideas that focus on particularly debilitating rheumatic diseases such as
rheumatoid arthritis and similar types of inflammatory arthritis. The Rheumatology Research Foundation offers more than $13 million annually through its awards and grants program, making it the largest private funding source of rheumatology training and research in the U.S.
