Research Funding Roadmap - Step 7

Understand the Deadlines, Acquaint Yourself with the Grant Review Process, and Get Your Grant Done Early

Once you have completed all of the individual components of your grant, the application is not quite ready for submission to the funding agency. Almost universally, universities and academic divisions have a process whereby you must submit your research grants for internal review prior to submission to the funding agency. You should familiarize yourself with your institutional process weeks to months before your grant deadline to insure that your institutional review will not preclude your on-time submission. Additionally, you should plan to complete your “final version” of the grant several weeks prior to the formal deadline to allow for meaningful feedback from mentors or other contributors.
