ABIM MOC Update
On April 1, 2013 the ABIM announced updates to the Maintenance of Certification program effective January 1, 2014. The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), of which ABIM is a member, is requiring more frequent participation in MOC of all Board Certified physicians. ABIM and ABMS, along with other external health organizations and the general public, believe that a more continuous MOC program helps you keep pace with the changes in the science of medicine and assessment.

Physicians will remain certified for the time remaining on their certificates, provided they hold a valid license. However, to be listed as “Meeting MOC requirements,” all ABIM diplomates, including those with time-indefinite certificates, will need to follow this schedule beginning in January 2014:

ACR’s Role and Response
The ACR is aware of these changes and will continue to offer our current portfolio of MOC programs and products. We are creating additional options to enhance our members’ experience as you work to meet these new requirements.

Our upcoming MOC programs will be at the Annual Meeting on Friday, October 25, 2013 (registration opens May 2013) and the weekend of March 21-23, 2014 in Atlanta, Ga (registration opens Fall 2013).
