The ACR/ARHP Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Postgraduate Rheumatology Training Program is now open for registration. To date, over 60 experts have dedicated multiple hours to complete this innovative program. The program includes 18 hours of audio-annotated PowerPoint slides, over 2800 slides, and 631 images. The need for the program was identified through the ACR workforce study and a demand by ACR/ARHP members. This novel program will allow NPs, PAs, and others interested in rheumatology to have a flexible, affordable way to build competence in the care of persons with rheumatic diseases.
The web-based program consists of 19 modules organized into three tracks: core, adult, and pediatric. Registrants will need to complete the 6 core modules and then either 3 pediatric or 10 adult modules to receive a certificate of completion. Registrants can also take all 19 modules to receive a combined adult and pediatric certificate of completion.
The modules consist of several components. First, a pre-test or a pre-assessment of your knowledge about a specific topic in rheumatology is completed. Case studies allow for the person to enter in their own response and then learn how experts in the field would respond. Second, the lecture presentation includes audio-annotated Powerpoint slides. Each of the audio-annotations vary in length from 30 to 120 minutes. Third, clinical tip sheets (also known as clinical pearls) can be printed out for use in a clinic or practice setting. And fourth, a post-test allows the individual to test their knowledge of what they have learned. Current references are included for each module. The individual can spend as much time as they prefer on a given module and can complete each module in increments of time based on their personal schedule.
Registrants must receive a pass rate of 70% or greater on each module assessment to complete the module, all modules in their registered track must be completed within one year of registering for the Program. Once an individual has successfully passed each module assessment within their registered track, they will receive a “Certificate of Completion” for the track. Additionally, AMA PRA Category 1 Credits will be provided.
