FLOOD CONTINUES AS SECRETARY OF AMERICAN COLLEGE OF RHEUMATOLOGY
CHICAGO – Joseph Flood, MD, a clinical rheumatologist in solo practice in Columbus, Ohio, will continue the second year of his two-year term as secretary of the American College of Rheumatology at the ACR’s annual business meeting held this week in Chicago.
Dr. Flood is a clinical rheumatologist with 25 years of experience in musculoskeletal medicine. In addition to working in his solo practice, he has experience working in a single specialty partnership and served as chief medical officer of a multispecialty medical group.
Dr. Flood is also on the clinical faculty of The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, where he is an active teacher. In 2002, he received the Distinguished Educator Award from that institution.
Additionally, Dr. Flood has a life-long interest in politics, especially the politics of medical care. He served as Chair of the ACR Government Affairs Committee and previously served the College as a member of its board of directors. He was instrumental in the founding of the RheumPAC, the ACR’s political action committee.
Dr. Flood is a graduate of St. Ignatius High School and serves on its President’s Visiting Committee. He obtained his undergraduate degree at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, and also earned his medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He was a fellow in rheumatic diseases in a combined program with Georgetown and the Washington Veterans Administration Medical School. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital.
