UKNIS NAMED TREASURER OF AMERICAN COLLEGE OF RHEUMATOLOGY

ATLANTA – Audrey B. Uknis, MD, professor of medicine and dean for admissions, Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Penn. was appointed treasurer of the American College of Rheumatology during the ACR's annual business meeting, held Tuesday, October 20 in Philadelphia, Pa.

Dr. Uknis completed her medical education and postgraduate training in internal medicine and rheumatology at Temple University School of Medicine, including a research fellowship at Temple’s Sol Sherry Thrombosis Research Center. Her early career included the ACR Research and Education Foundation’s Physician Scientist Development Award and an NIH Clinical Scientist Development Award. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and has earned recognition as the recipient of the 2005 Joseph Lee Hollander Award from the southeast PA Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation for excellence and achievement in the field of rheumatology. She is listed in Best Doctors in America and Who’s Who of American Women.
 
Dr. Uknis has served as president of the Philadelphia Rheumatism Society and founding member of the ACR’s Regional Advisory Council. She has chaired the ACR’s Continuous Professional Development Committee, helping to create novel CME tools that meet the ABIM’s requirements for Maintenance of Certification, and she represents the ACR on the ABIM’s Liaison Committee on Recertification. She has served on the ACR Board of Directors and is currently co-chairing the ACR’s Strategic Planning Committee.
