ACR Membership
The American College of Rheumatology (ACR), founded in 1934,
is the largest professional organization of physicians, scientists,
and health professionals devoted to the study and treatment of
the rheumatic diseases. ACR members maintain a strong commitment
to research and education, advancing the understanding of the
rheumatic diseases, and discovering new therapies to treat these
diseases.
Interested in Joining the ACR?
To apply, you must complete an application
form and submit dues
payment. Letters of recommendation by ACR members are also
required. After review by the Nominating Commitee, election is
by majority vote of the ACR Board of Directors. The Board considers
applications only twice a year, but membership services are provided
to applicants from the time of their application and dues payment.

Health Professionals: Join the ARHP, a division of the ACR
If you or a member of your staff is a health professional, encourage them to join the Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals.
Application Deadlines
Members are elected in the spring and fall. For election at the
ACR Annual Scientific Meeting to be held in October/November,
applications and dues must be received in September. Dues will
be applied to the next year and journal subscriptions will begin
with the January issue.
New applicants may register for the Annual Scientific Meeting
at the member fee if their applications and dues payment are received
before the advance registration deadline (in September).
Membership Renewal
Membership runs from January 1 – December 31. Renewal notices
are sent in October, and renewals forms/address update forms
are due by January 31 to ensure inclusion in the printed membership
