About Preceptorship Awards
The REF Preceptorship program introduces the best and brightest medical and graduate students to the field of rheumatology as a possible career path by supporting a mentored one-on-one interaction and real-world learning experience focused on rheumatology.
Applications for REF Preceptorship awards are now available. Please see below for deadlines.
The REF has revamped its preceptorship program and the changes are quite notable. We strongly advise reading the complete application instructions and information regarding the changes before you start you application process.
The REF’s recent revisions allow students to complete the preceptorship experience during their elective month(s), rather than requiring all experiences to be over the summer. This will allow students to take advantage of the preceptorships’ great opportunities in a way that is consistent with the program’s goal of increasing student exposure to rheumatology.
The revised program cycle allows for quarterly submission of preceptorship applications. The preceptorships should be conducted in a four to eight week period throughout year. This period must be defined on the application at the time of submission, and the experience cannot be used for “elective” credit. Only one application per student per year will be funded. Payments will be issued within six to eight weeks of the funding decision.
